Tom Crane assumed the Board President role in September 2017 after serving as Vice President and Board Governance Chair. Born in Buffalo, Tom moved to Maine in 1981 and currently lives in Portland with his wife, Liz, while their two grown daughters live in Texas and Vermont.
Tom has been interested in the emotionally healthy development of boys and men for two decades since making the direct correlation between positive male role models and the academic and social performance of boys. He joined Maine Boys to Men in 2015 with a desire to make a difference on a more systemic level.
Tom recently retired from UBS Financial Services where he had been a financial advisor for the past 25 years. He remains involved in the Unitarian Universalist Church Finance Committee, serves as a volunteer Mediator for the Maine Attorney General's office, and volunteers with the Portland Mentoring Alliance. He is involved with men's groups aimed at strengthening male emotionally vulnerable and honesty. Tom has served as Board Chair at The Breakwater School in Portland, Literacy Volunteers of Maine, and has volunteered with Safe Passages, Portland Soup Kitchen, and The Northwood School in Lake Placid.
