Maine Boys to Men recognizes that fathers play a unique and important role in our mission to end male violence and advance gender equity.
Research shows the months prior to their child’s birth are when expectant fathers are most interested and receptive to support, education and transformative changes inspired by fatherhood; yet most programs for new and expectant parents are available to couples or mothers exclusively. With a 25-year history of providing community-based violence prevention programming that targets men and boys, Maine Boys to Men recognizes this unmet need and has been providing Boot Camp for New Dads® to Southern Maine families for the past ten years.
Chris attended Boot Camp for New Dads prior to his daughter’s birth in 2023, and shared these thoughts about his experience:
“I would say that the most impactful portion of that program for me was the opportunity to speak to the “veteran dad” returning with his newborn … To have somebody come in fresh off that [birth] experience and be open and available to answer any questions and [be] humble, made me feel comfortable with my perceived ignorance around birth.”
With Boot Camp for New Dads, we’re building a supportive community where expectant fathers can share their experiences openly and gain confidence in their new roles as parents.
Join us for our next Boot Camp for New Dads!
